I’ve been doing a lot of research on toxic influencers lately. My research inevitably led me to the likes of Andrew Tate and Myron Gaines. I hadn’t really heard of Myron Gaines before my research, but I was well aware of Andrew Tate and his sick and twisted views. I watched some interviews with Tate on YouTube out of boredom and morbid curiosity. I had seen snippets of his insanity as well as documentaries about him a while back, but the interviews I watched made me feel really angry and sick.

After watching a “date” between Tate and YouTube personality Chian Reynolds, I came across Myron Gaines who similarly to Tate goes on a “date” with Chian. This isn’t an actual date but an interview where Chian attempts to challenge misogynistic men like Tate and Gaines. What shocked me the most was the numbers of YouTube comments in which people supported these sickos and their views.

Andrew Tate who is awaiting trial in Romania for sex trafficking charges and other offences holds deeply misogynistic and toxic patriarchal views that belong in the Stone Age. Myron Gaines is a replica of Tate with almost identical views. Gaines who is well-known for his Fit and Fresh podcast, thinks that all women are “hoes” and that men shouldn’t fall in love with women. He also asserts that if a woman is in a serious relationship that she shouldn’t have an Instagram account because it’s “cheating.”

Both Tate and Gaines believe that relationships between men and women are transactional- that women only want men who have money, power and status and men want women who are submissive and malleable. They use outdated arguments about male and female biology to back up their views. Perhaps the biological argument was valid during the cavemen era where humanity was largely uncivilised and unevolved but not in the modern world. It’s no surprise that Tate and Gaines behave like…
